Every Golfer Can Help Speed Up Play

Using Carts

  • Whenever possible & not interfering with another player in the group’s next shot, take passengers to their ball first and let them select the club for the next shot, then proceed to your own ball. Don’t wait for your partner to hit before moving to your own ball.
  • When around the green, park the cart on the part of the path closest to the next tee. This offers the fastest exit from the green and speeds play for the group that follows.

General Hints

  • After putting out, move immediately to the next tee before recording your score or figuring your stroke count. You may be surprised at how much time this simple rule can save.
  • Always be ready to hit. Don’t wait for other golfers to hit before selecting your club.
  • On par-3 holes, continue to play. Concentrate on maintaining pace with the group ahead of you rather than offering the group behind to “hit up”. Offering the group behind to “hit-up” actually slows play.
  • On the putting surface, line up your putts while others are putting. Don’t wait until it’s yur turn to take your practice strokes and determine your line. Putt out short putts rather than marking the ball.
